Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply when you use our website or hire Port Hueneme Concrete for concrete work. By browsing the site, calling us, sending our contact form or booking a job, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Your signed written agreement for a specific job controls over these terms wherever the two differ.

What we do and what the site is for

Port Hueneme Concrete is a concrete contractor based in Port Hueneme, CA. We're licensed and fully insured. We build and repair flatwork, which covers driveways, patios, sidewalks and other flat slabs. We also build steps, retaining walls, footings and foundations, and we do concrete cutting. You can read more about our crew on our About page.

Everything on our home page and the rest of this site is general information about how this kind of work usually goes. It isn't a promise that a method, finish or result fits your property, because that depends on what we find on site.

Estimates and pricing

Our estimates are free and in person, and there's no pressure to book. An estimate is based on what we can see and measure at the visit. That includes the size of the area, how much old concrete has to come out, the condition of the subgrade, which is the soil the slab sits on, truck access and the finish you choose.

A price is set only once it's in a written estimate or agreement, and it stays good for the period written on it. If we open up the job and find something nobody could see beforehand, such as soft or wet soil, buried roots, old concrete thicker than expected or unmarked lines, we'll stop and show you. We agree on any change in writing before we do the extra work.

Scheduling, weather and cancellation

We set a pour date once you've accepted the estimate. We may move a pour for rain, high heat or strong wind, because concrete poured in the wrong conditions ends up with a weaker surface. Material delays and inspections can also shift dates. We'll tell you as soon as we know and give you the next date we can.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us at (805) 269-8744 as early as you can. Your written agreement sets out what happens to any deposit and to materials already ordered.

Your part of the job

You agree to give our crew safe access to the work area. You also agree to tell us about anything you know of that we can't see, such as sprinkler lines, buried utilities, septic systems, property lines and HOA rules. You confirm that you own the property or have the owner's permission to have the work done.

Keep people, pets and vehicles off new concrete for as long as we tell you, because the slab is still curing, which is the time it needs to harden and gain strength. Damage from using it early isn't our responsibility.

Whether a job needs a permit depends on your city and the work involved. Your written agreement says who applies for any permit that's required.

Payment

Payment is due as stated in your estimate or written agreement. Any deposit we ask for stays within what California law allows for home improvement work.

If a balance goes unpaid, we may pause work and use the remedies California law gives contractors, which can include a lien on the property.

Warranty and what isn't covered

Concrete can crack even when it's built right, because it shrinks as it dries and the ground under it moves. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves in the slab, so cracks tend to form there and not across the middle. Hairline cracks, slight color differences between pours and normal wear aren't defects.

Any warranty for your job is the one written in your agreement, and no other warranty is implied beyond what California law requires. It doesn't cover damage from ground movement, tree roots, standing water, loads heavier than the slab was built for, chemicals, work done by others or skipped care instructions.

This website is provided as is. We don't promise it's free of errors or always available.

Limits on our liability

To the extent California law allows, Port Hueneme Concrete isn't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses tied to our website or our work, such as lost use of your driveway or patio. Our total liability on a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow a business to limit, such as liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Settling disagreements

If something about the job doesn't look right, call us first so we can come out and see it, because most issues get sorted on site. If we can't settle it between us, both sides agree to try mediation in good faith before going to court.

Any lawsuit about these terms or our work will be brought in the state courts for Ventura County, California.

Which law applies

These terms, your use of this site and any job agreement with us are governed by the laws of the State of California.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, and changes take effect when we post them on this page. The version posted when you use the site or sign a job agreement is the one that applies to you.
